Did you know?

Colds and flu are most contagious in the first three days after symptoms begin, making early care important.

Understanding Cold and Flu Symptoms

Colds and flu are both viral respiratory illnesses, but they differ in how quickly symptoms appear and how severe they can become. The common cold usually develops gradually, often starting with a runny nose, sore throat, and mild fatigue. Influenza tends to begin suddenly, with more intense symptoms like fever, chills, body aches, and pronounced tiredness. Both are spread mainly through respiratory droplets, such as when someone coughs or sneezes, but can also be picked up from surfaces.

Triggers for these illnesses include close contact with infected individuals, touching contaminated objects, and weakened immune defenses. Managing these conditions often involves rest, hydration, and over-the-counter remedies to relieve symptoms. Preventive measures, such as handwashing and immune support, can help reduce risk. Seeking care early may help shorten the duration and lessen the severity of symptoms.

Common Symptoms of Cold & Flu

Cold symptoms often begin with a scratchy throat, sneezing, and a runny or stuffy nose. As the illness progresses, mild fatigue, a cough, and watery eyes may develop. Some people also notice a slight headache or low-grade fever, but symptoms are generally mild and manageable. Most colds resolve within a week, though lingering congestion can persist.

Flu symptoms usually come on suddenly and are more intense than those of a cold. High fever, chills, muscle aches, and severe tiredness are common, along with a dry cough and headache. Some individuals experience nausea or loss of appetite, especially in children. The flu can leave you feeling drained for several days or even weeks.

Both conditions may cause overlapping symptoms, making it difficult to tell them apart at first. In some cases, complications like sinus infections or bronchitis can develop, especially in those with weakened immune systems. Monitoring for worsening symptoms, such as difficulty breathing or persistent high fever, is important. Most people recover fully with supportive care, but some may need additional help to regain their strength.

Traditional Treatments

Conventional care for colds and flu focuses on relieving symptoms and supporting the body’s natural recovery process. Rest, adequate fluid intake, and over-the-counter medications for fever, congestion, or pain are commonly recommended. In some cases, antiviral medications may be prescribed for the flu, especially if started early in the illness. These can help shorten the duration and reduce the severity of symptoms. Other supportive measures include using humidifiers, saline nasal sprays, and throat lozenges to ease discomfort. For individuals at higher risk of complications, such as young children, older adults, or those with chronic health conditions, close monitoring is important. Preventive strategies like vaccination, hand hygiene, and immune support can help reduce the likelihood of getting sick. Integrative approaches, such as IV therapy, may be considered for those seeking additional support during recovery.

How IV Therapy May Help

Are you looking for ways to support your recovery from cold and flu symptoms? IV therapy at The DRIPBaR offers a way to deliver hydration, vitamins, and antioxidants directly into your system, supporting your body’s efforts to recover. These treatments are administered by licensed providers and can be tailored to your individual needs, helping to ease fatigue, support immune function, and restore energy levels. The controlled dosing and professional supervision help ensure safety and comfort throughout the process. While IV therapy is not a replacement for standard medical care, it can complement traditional treatments by addressing hydration and nutrient needs during illness. This supportive strategy may be especially helpful for those who have difficulty maintaining fluid intake or who want to give their immune system extra support. Each session is designed with your well-being in mind, and adjustments can be made based on your response and preferences. Always consult your healthcare provider before starting new therapies, especially if you have underlying health conditions.

This place is so amazing. The staff are super helpful with everything. I originally came in unsure about injections, because they seem super sketchy, but they were so helpful in helping me understand my own needs and how each injection works. They aren’t pushy and won’t pressure you into trying something, which a lot of people do at other places or online. They care a lot about making sure you get what your body needs. The pricing is reasonably affordable and service is 10/10.

Jane who works the front desk at the Drip Bar is pleasant. She made sure I was taken care of when I came to use the sauna every time! The sauna is down at Fit factory and she made a point to assist me, reach out, and had a positive attitude every time I speak to her. Also, the NP was kind! I don’t use the IV feature but I might consider it since they are personable!

  • “I am excited to share my experience with The DripBar in Foxboro. Two weeks ago on Sunday I woke up feeling mildly terrible 😞. My throat hurt a lot also. Usually I end up fighting my symptoms with antibiotics and respiratory issues for a month or more… sad but true, i had an event in 7 days and knew I probably would be”
